URW Community Federal Credit Union is pleased to offer an Annual Scholarship Program to award selected young members with funds for their continuing education.
URW created the Scholarship Program in 1984 to further our philosophy of giving back to members and the communities that we serve. Our commitment to the young leaders in our communities demonstrates a firm belief in their ability to pursue their life's desires and dreams.
Four $500 scholarships are awarded to high school seniors that are members in good standing of the Credit Union. Applications require transcripts, a teacher's reference and two completed essay questions.
Eligibility
The applicant must:
- Be a member of URW in good standing
- Be enrolled as a high school senior at the time of application
- All scholarship recipients must attend college full time.
- Appear in person at a predetermined branch to receive documentation and take part in a photo
- Use scholarship funds for tuition or textbooks only at an accredited education institution
Selection Process
As a not-for-profit credit union, URW is committed to social responsibility. As a result, scholarships are awarded based on a student’s academic performance and passion for helping others. Applicants are required to submit their hours of community service, grade point average, and letters of recommendation. Judging is based on subjective criteria including essays, weighted objective criteria, academic performance, extracurricular and community activities, references and personal goals. Those selected must appear in person to receive their scholarships and take part in a photo. If any winner fails to attend at their predetermined meeting time, another winner will be selected in his or her place. Selection is made without regard to applicant's race, color, national origin, religious belief, sex, marital status, age, or physical handicap.

All information contained in your profile and scholarship application is secure and will not be used for any purpose other than to process your application.
As part of the application, you will be asked to provide:
- Your personal contact information
- URW account information
- High school and college academic information
- Community and school involvement, honors and awards, and work experience
- 1,000 word essay regarding community or school activities
- Provide high school records
- One recommendation from a teacher or advisor
